When I was first getting into snowboarding, I didn't know what to expect. Firstly, I thought it would only take one lesson and I'd know what to do. Boy did I learn that was a million times wrong! It doesn't matter if you're a female or not, but this was something I wanted for a long time now. I knew NO ONE in the winter sports industry. None of my friends want to or ever skied or snowboarded. My dad skis, but that was a terrible mistake that led me to want to learn snowboarding in the first place.
Also I don't know about you, but I find men are much more into aesthetics and their snowboard gear matching than females are. I don't know why us girls get a bad rap for it? Just like a regular outfit can make or break our entire mood, a good snowboard outfit that you feel cute and comfy in can make or break your confidence on your board. And with snowboarding, you want that confidence!
In the beginning though, I had nothing. Not even winter pants. I was not a winter person AT ALL, now look at me. I didn't have the money to dive into every single avenue of snowboarding besides showing up to learn. I'm always of the mindset, start where you can. Start where you are.
Over time, my collection and budget changed and I was able to save up and invest in more or better equipment and gear. I still need better base layers, but the ones I own currently are decent enough. In this guide you will find female snowboard outfits, cute, warm, & worth it—no matter your budget, If you're just getting into snowboarding, this is the guide for you, or if you're already circling down this rabbit hole of snowboarding this is the inspo you might not even know you wanted.
Let’s get into it shall we?
P.S. If you want to get into my snowboard gear, and what I ride, psst I own 3 snowboards. Click here to read that, it’ll open in a new tab.

Budget-Friendly Snowboard Outfit
The OG Outfit
Arctix Womens Insulated Snow Pants
(X-Small Tall, $39.99)
https://amzn.to/46jhmRh
Great starter winter pants at a low price. Arctix offers many styles and keeps you warm, but quality issues emerge over time - pockets are poor, button clasps break, and belts loosen. They'll get wet eventually too. Perfect for beginners, but plan to upgrade once you're more serious about the sport.
Gymshark Pause Borg Pullover
(Medium, $61.60)
https://mavely.app.link/e/XcHwD2qzeZb
Surprisingly waterproof despite claims. Zipper pocket fits essentials. Kept warm at Blue Mountain with just base layer, great for spring riding. Armpit vents help with temperature control.

https://tinyurl.com/Dope-snow-puffer
Too warm for snowboarding, even in upstate NY, but perfect for daily winter wear like shoveling. I run hot while riding. Plenty of pockets, great jacket. Perfect for pink/cute general winter use. Don't understand bad Dope Snow reviews.

Dope Snow Iconic W 2021 Snowboard Pants Women
(Black, Small, $111.30)
https://tinyurl.com/Dope-snow-pants
Great pants, had no issues indoors, outdoors, or after falls. Plenty of pockets and very adjustable. Not as baggy as I personally prefer. For snowboarding, looser pants perform better because it’s a full-body sport — you’re constantly bending, twisting, squatting, falling, getting back up, and riding switch. Extra room allows unrestricted movement and less resistance, especially when you’re riding hard or recovering from a fall. I used these for a while but eventually outgrew them after some weight gain, and now they’ve become my go-to pants for shoveling snow.

Doorek Iconic Rabbit Fleece Hoodie
(Pink, Medium, $149)

Deep pocket holds lots but items get lost. Only bunny hood provides warmth - rest is heavy and odd. Water resistant, not waterproof. Too heavy for outdoor/spring use. Indoor only. Stylish but gets cold after 6+ hours even with thick base layer.
Premium Snowboard Outfits: High-Quality & Worth It
Oakley TNP TBT Insulated Anorak
(Men’s, Blackout/New Lilac, $265)
https://mavely.app.link/e/E8q1YgsMgZb
Christmas gift from boyfriend. It worked early in the season but got tight by February. Thankfully the side zipper helps alleviate tightness. I’ve tried manyyy women’s jackets and they never fit me correctly, has made me question who’s designing winter wear in all these big brands. I love the high kangaroo pouch but warning, don't store heavy items (can cause injury, learned that the hard way). Sleeve pockets are great for lift passes. Awkward face opening makes changing outside difficult. Still searching for the perfect pink jacket that fits & is insulated.
686 Outline Pant
(Black, Medium, Wide, $199.95)
https://alnk.to/6TDmKXP
Favorite pants with amazing pocket placement! The knee pocket is perfect for snacks and quick-access essentials. The baggy fit paired with a stretchy waistband works especially well for curvy bodies, which can make snow gear shopping frustrating. Super warm and handled upstate NY conditions easily with just HeatTech base layers underneath. Pricey, but absolutely worth it. Purchased November 2024 so price may have changed since.

Base Layers on a Budget

Aoxjox Long Sleeve Crop Tops for Women Workout
(Dark Blue Marl, Medium, $24.99)
https://amzn.to/44DUPgO
But any sweat-wicking or workout top will do. I was great in this top until I figured out snow burn is a thing, so I use this for workouts now instead and bought the one on the right.
Leggings
I wore any leggings in the beginning that i owned. But if you have gym/workout leggings, those are better because they’re made with sweat-wicking material.

MathCat Seamless Workout Shirts for Women Long Sleeve
(Purple, Medium, $22.99)
https://amzn.to/4kLotFx
Note I rolled up my top for this photo, to look cute. I generally tuck my shirts into my pants for snowboarding now. Keeps the snow out.

Base Layers That Are Cute & Cozy (Mid-Range Picks)
Uniqlo Heat Tech Base Layers
HEATTECH T-Shirt
(Black, Medium, $19.90)
https://tinyurl.com/Uniqlo-heattech-t
Great for indoor snowboarding. It's much thinner and somewhat sheer (that's why no picture), but I don't get sweaty or overheated wearing it indoors.
HEATTECH Ultra Warm T-Shirt
(Black, Medium, $29.90)
https://tinyurl.com/Heattech-ultra-warm
Pictured here. Great for outdoor snowboarding. Kept me warm but not sweaty in upstate New York. Much thicker, super soft and cozy—works great as a base layer under winter gear too.
Uniqlo Heat Tech Base Layers
HEATTECH Leggings
(Black, Small, $19.90)

Balaclavas & Snowboard Hoods
Balaclava Face Masks
Woolf Merino Svarthetta Balaclava
(One Size, Black, $49)
https://tinyurl.com/Woolf-balaclava
Leaves me too warm despite the fact it’s on the thin side. I can’t think straight or ride well when I feel too hot. I like a little wind on my face. It also itches my nose for some reason after long periods of time. Heard great things about this one, I still use it when I want to be full incognito at Big SNOW since I’m not riding for long sprints.
BlackStrap Hood Balaclava Solid Tones
(Rose, $37.99)
https://tinyurl.com/Blackstrap-hood-balaclava
This balaclava is better for me. It’s thicker though. It doesn’t stay up very well like Woolf’s. but I’m okay with that because I always pair it with my Rilakkuma hood which goes up pretty high. It doesn’t make me too hot like Woolf’s, so I don’t feel hot & bothered. I don’t like the bulky logo on the side of it, (not pictured), but it’s not a huge deal.
Balaclava Hoods
NedHeadsCo. Black Hood - Over Helmet Ski Snowboard Hood
($40)
https://tidd.ly/46moSuQ
First Balaclava purchase ever made. I use it indoors & outdoors, best purchase ever.
Rilakkuma Hood
(Round 1 Winners Circle)
Got this with tickets 10 years ago—doesn't exist anymore. By random luck, it fits over my helmet perfectly.
Snowboard Gloves for Women
Best for Maximum Warmth & Style
686 x Hello Kitty Revel Snowboard Mittens
(White, Small, $59.95)
https://tinyurl.com/Hello-Kitty-Gloves
My hands sweat in these. They’re great for ultra cold days or going to mountains in the Northern regions. They’re super cute too!
Best for Durability & Daily Use
Wellslamont HydraHyde® Insulated Knit Wrist with Ski Strap
(Style 1189W, Small, $60)
https://tinyurl.com/Wellslamont-gloves
Best gloves for indoor snowboarding, in my opinion. After sometime, they don’t hold up very well. So I’ve been using them less frequently. After 2 hours of riding, my hands constantly feel wet and cold. I had them for a good year and half before that happened though, and I was riding hundreds of hours during the year.
Best for Grip & Control
Crab Grab Punch Snowboard Mittens
(Soft Pink, Extra Small, $75)
https://alnk.to/6xNQNoZ
Great grip, super cute, perfect pink color. I wouldn’t say they’re as warm as 686, but I like the fact they don’t make my hands feel like they’re sweating. These are best in the tristate area.
Cheap But Cute
Nobaday Insulated Snow Mittens
(Pink, Small, $29)
https://tinyurl.com/nobaday-pink-mittens
These gloves look cute but have poor build quality and questionable design choices. The zipper pocket for lift passes doesn't fit most passes, and the wrist area uses cheap elastic material that feels like whatever stretchy fabric they had lying around. They feel hastily assembled compared to other brands. Warmth is mediocre—fine for PA mountains or indoor slopes, but not much else. You get what you pay for compared to quality $60+ gloves. Also, their website takes forever to load. I've enjoyed their socks but they're too thick for snowboarding.
Snowboard Socks for Women
My Favorite
Stance Performance Wool Ultralight Snow Sock
(Small, Over The Calf, Ultralight Cushion, $28.99)
https://tinyurl.com/Stance-snow-sock
My favorite socks and exactly what my feet need—I need more because they're so good. These not only feel great but also help my boots grip properly (which makes more sense when compared to other socks). With flat feet, I need the compression and quality construction. The over-the-calf height is essential for snowboard boots.
My Least Favorite
Smartwool Women's Ski Floral Field Print Over The Calf Socks
(Small, Picante, $29)
https://amzn.to/3ICZozh
Boyfriend suggested trying something thinner than our usual Stance socks, but I hate these. They're "Zero Cushion"—way too thin. My boots are either too tight or too loose because these don't grip like Stance socks do. Whenever I loosened my boots, I'd come flying out of them. I wish I was joking. Would try a cushioned version instead.
