I’ve had lung issues my entire life. Pneumonia as a baby. Bronchitis in my twenties. And after Covid, my right lung just never bounced back. I was getting sick constantly. Doctors basically shrugged and said there was nothing else they could do.
But I wasn’t about to stop living. Even when it meant crashing after every trip, I kept doing the things I loved. And one of those things? Snowboarding.
I didn’t grow up snowboarding. I started as an adult and stuck with it through every fall, bruise, and frustration. Something about it made me feel alive. And apparently, it did more than that—because when I went back to the doctor, they were shocked.
My lung hadn’t just stopped declining—it was getting stronger. Snowboarding was literally helping me heal. Two doctors, a year apart, said the same thing:
“You need snowboarding for life.”
So I took that prescription to heart.
