5 Reasons Why I Will Continue to Use Lavendaire’s Artist of Life Workbook

The 2023 Artist of Life workbook has launched, and you're probably here if you're wondering if you should get it or not. Is it worth the hype? Is it worth the price? If you're looking for a sign or something as to whether to get it maybe this is the post you need. Here are 5 reasons why I will continue to use Lavendaire's Artist of Life Workbook in my everyday life.

Aesthetically Pleasing

Such a simple answer I know, but it really is aesthetically pleasing to look at. It also has a different feel to it than other planners I own, and I absolutely love that velvety soft feeling it has. Which I assume is coming from the vegan leather and it's divine! It's a great and unique choice for a planner/workbook.

None only is it pretty, but I love that it lays flat. I was really concerned in my first impressions video of the pages coming out over time because adding stickers & washi tape makes things thick, but I haven't had that problem and we're almost done with this year!

The A5 is the perfect size for this type of goal workbook, getting to know yourself, and working towards your dream life. You can take it with you, or it fits nicely on any desk. I love that the pages are squared off and not rounded.

The dot grid is light enough to ignore or to use as a guide if needed. I needed it, a lot, but sometimes I did come to ignore them! Which was one of the differences in the 2022 version that all previous versions didn't have and will continue into the 2023 version!

Easily customizable to your needs.

Just because there's an existing structure doesn't mean you can't use stickers or whatever tools you have at your discretion to make it your own.

In the beginning, when I first started using the workbook in the monthly sections, I was not sure how to make it my own. Coming from a Passion Planner and bullet journal background, I make everything my own. Because one size does not fit all. Over time, I really found a method that works just for me and has been super vital in my week to week life.

I use washi tape, and stickers, to make things pretty. I change up the format in the main goals and weekly breakdown to make it more sensible to my needs. Also, my favorite change that I did was change the monthly highlights section to a themed monthly highlights section. For instance, each month I would have a prompt. Things like,

  • "What do I need right now?"
  • "What am I wishing for?"
  • "How will I be a friend to myself?"
Many of these prompts came from the self-care sticker book I purchased from Passion Planner.

I would then number the lines according to how many days were in the month. Each day, at the end of the day, I would write something according to that theme. I always had some space left over, and I would treat it as a small reflection box. I would reflect on the prompt, by asking myself:

  • Was it easy to answer?
  • What made it hard?
Or I would reflect on the month in general, or just about anything. But I really enjoyed changing this structure and will continue to do so going forward into the 2023 Artist of Life workbook

Backpages for the win.

I honestly did not think I was going to use all the back pages going into this. I used to journal a lot when I was younger. Then I did so here and there in the daily sections of my Passion Planner, but I never went super into depth until this summer. I felt overwhelmed a lot and I didn't want it just anywhere, and the Artist of Life workbook was great for the times I have been needing to journal. I felt like it captured a different portion of my journey. And I will love to look back on it one day.

Besides journaling, you can be super creative and use Etsy to print out some A5 planner inserts to use in the back of your Artist of Life workbook. With that said, I'm going to shamelessly promote my Etsy shop, DreamlikeInnovations where you can find A5 planner inserts for your planner.

Don't let the fine print scare you, I make everyone agree to sign it to make sure they have read all the directions I have included. It's really simple to purchase, print, and use, but people like to overcomplicate things or just ignore the directions. They're there for a reason! They're there to help you get the best out of your purchase! As there are no refunds ever on ANY digital product purchase on any store, not just mine.

If you don't know how to print it yourself or don't own a printer, just take the file into a Staples, Office Max, etc. and show them the directions. They'll know what to do, and if not, just show them the directions then they definitely will know what to do.

If you want to insert some of Lavendaire's worksheets into your planner get the FREE program, Adobe Reader. And when you go to print it, click "Brochure" it's the perfect size for an A5 print, and have done so many times!

There are so many options to use the back pages besides just for journaling!

You really get to know yourself.

When I used the digital version back in 2020, I definitely did not feel like I got the most out of it or what I got out of the physical version. Maybe someone else is a much better digital planner, but I felt disconnected from the digital version compared to the physical.

After 2020, I stopped using it because it didn't feel right and now I know why.

It didn't make sense to me as to why I would redo all the pages every single year, year after year, because of that digital-to-physical disconnect. But in the last year, I've come to realize I've changed a lot from month to month. I'm not the same person I was when I first started this journey in 2022. I want different things. I have learned more about myself. And I can see this happening every year, not just this year.

Not only that, but you can start seeing a pattern of where you're holding yourself back. There were some goals I set, and you'll notice this in the final version flip through video, where I repeatedly write those goals months down the line because I was making moves towards them, but I wasn't making strides in the right ways. I was constantly holding myself back in those aspects mainly because of fear of not being good enough.

It’s a great addition to any planner method or you can use it on its own.

I use the Artist of Life workbook together with my Passion Planner mainly. I also own and use my very own gratitude planner and a bullet journal

To me, the Artist of Life workbook is the big picture, while my passion planner is all the nitty gritty details. The Artist of Life workbook is a great addition to any planning method. It doesn’t eliminate other planners, and you can totally use Lavendaire’s Reset Planner or one of her notebooks to make a bullet journal method for planning.

It’s a mind map in a way.

It gives you a structural idea of what you desire and want out of your life. What you need to figure out, and how to make it work. Whether you use the back pages or the existing space to figure out all the nitty gritty or additional planners. It really depends on if you’re a maximalist or a minimalist, your needs, how much you have going on, and whether you are stationery obsessed like I am 😂, or if you just need an idea of which way to go?

I have a lot going on, so I have multiple planners. But if you just need an idea of which way to go, it’s a great workbook to use and have on its own with no additional planning method needed.

And with that, that is everything I wanted to say about why this is something you should purchase! THIS IS YOUR SIGN IF YOU NEED IT!
